Registration for Fall Doc School Now Open!

Over 100 high school students have graduated from the DOC SCHOOL and created short documentaries on important local topics ranging from the Sacramento Zoo, teen pregnancy, the food bank, life in Folsom Prison, and many more.

If you would like to learn the art of filmmaking for fun or for a career, registration for this Fall’s Doc School is now open.

Over eight weeks this Fall, you will create a 3-to-5 minute documentary about a topic of your choice and at the end of the Doc School premiere your film at the Doc School Film Festival!

Here is one of the recent Doc School films, Sorry to Inform You. It was done by Oliver Boido, Mimi Wilcox, Asia Doubikin, and Sophia Solorio of Natomas Charter High School, the Da Vinci Academy, and Natomas High School, respectively.

Only 25 students are accepted into each Doc School class. Classes fill up fast so if you are a high school student interested in joining the Doc School, please sign up now.

Doc School Films For Local Nonprofts

Over five weeks this summer, our Doc School students created short documentary films on the important work seven local nonprofit organizations do for the community.

Here is one of the Doc School Nonprofit Partnership films, Bread of Life. It was done by Meghan Klassen, Sam Dettman, and Reanne Acosta – students at El Camino High School and Del Campo High School.

In order to be considered as a nonprofit that our filmmakers would work with, you must: e-mail your name, organization, and web address to DocSchool@documentaryfoundation.org

Registration for Fall 2010 Doc School

Thank you for your interest in learning the fundamentals of filmmaking at the Doc School. Classes are limited to 25 students at the Doc School so your early interest will increase your chances of securing a spot in class.

In order to sign-up for a spot in class you must: e-mail your name, high school, and parents’ contact info to DocSchool@documentaryfoundation.org and pay the course tuition.

Once your tuition payment is received, you will have a spot secured in the Doc School.

Forty Sacramento-area high school students have created short documentary films on topics ranging from rehab inside Folsom Prison to red pandas at the Sacramento Zoo.

Here is this the winning film of this Doc School class, Sorry to Inform You. It was done by Oliver Boido, Mimi Wilcox, Asia Doubikin, and Sophia Solorio of Natomas Charter High School, the Da Vinci Academy, and Natomas High School, respectively.
