Over five weeks this summer, our Doc School students created short documentary films on the important work seven local nonprofit organizations do for the community.
Here is one of the Doc School Nonprofit Partnership films, Bread of Life. It was done by Meghan Klassen, Sam Dettman, and Reanne Acosta – students at El Camino High School and Del Campo High School.

Forty Sacramento-area high school students have created short documentary films on topics ranging from rehab inside Folsom Prison to red pandas at the Sacramento Zoo.
Here is this the winning film of this Doc School class, Sorry to Inform You. It was done by Oliver Boido, Mimi Wilcox, Asia Doubikin, and Sophia Solorio of Natomas Charter High School, the Da Vinci Academy, and Natomas High School, respectively.

After two weeks of shooting in China, our photographer Jayson Carpenter gave us over 300 options for Diamond in the Dunes‘ key art. We’ve narrowed it down to two images, but we need to pick one.

Food, Fun, and Sacramento’s Finest High School Filmmakers…
This Spring’s 40 Doc School students will be premiering their short documentaries and we would like you to join us!
Come watch nine docs on topics ranging from rehabilitation at Folsom Prison, to children at the Shriners Hospital; from the Sacramento Zoo to pink-slipped teachers, and many more…
Food will be provided from Aioli’s Bodega and Hawk’s Restaurant. The event will be held at the Benvenuti Performing Arts Center on Sunday May 16th from 5 to 8pm.

Join the Documentary Foundation as Sacramento’s finest aspiring filmmakers premiere their short documentaries at the Doc School Film Festival on December 6th, at the Benvenuti Performing Arts Center. Doc School Filmmakers will compete for awards in Best Picture, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.
Our 50 students will present twelve documentaries on local community stories. Films topics range from teen pregnancy to the revitalization of Oak Park; from a dog’s life at a local animal shelter, to our local noise rock scene and much more…
Admission is free and food will be provided from Hawk’s Restaurant and Griselda’s Catering.

As our young filmmakers have just passed the halfway point of the Doc School, they will wrap up filming this Saturday, and begin editing. Each group is running around town interviewing, filming, producing, and capturing unique stories. Our 50 students are producing 12 documentaries on local Sacramento issues. The docs will premiere at the Doc School Film Festival on December 6th. We’ll keep you posted!
